Chefleen’s famous Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are my absolutely favorite thing of all time. The smell, the stickiness, the flavor! I normally share recipes that are quick and easy but trust me these are worth the wait. They aren't hard to make but they do take some time, but that's what lazy weekend mornings are for. The secret to these ooey-gooey wonders is baking in *heavy cream* don’t not skip! These would be a perfect addition to Mother's Day Brunch (after the mother has spent the previous night in a hotel alone.)

What You Need — For the Dough

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

1 cup warm milk (around 110°F or 43°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

What You Need — For the Filling

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

What You Need — For Baking

1 cup heavy cream

Additional melted butter for brushing

What You Need — For the Icing (optional)

2 cup powdered sugar

1 cup softened cream cheese

2–3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

What You Do — Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix well.

  2. Add warm milk, melted butter, and eggs to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.

  3. Gradually add the remaining 2 cups of flour until the dough is smooth and slightly sticky.

  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes elastic and smooth.

What You Do — Make the Filling

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

What You Do — Assemble the Rolls

  1. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. Spread the filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  3. Starting from one long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log.

  4. Cut the log into 12 equal-sized rolls.

What You Do — Bake the Rolls

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.

  2. Grease a baking dish (9x13 inches) and place the cinnamon rolls in the dish, leaving a little space between each roll.

  3. Pour the heavy cream evenly over the rolls, allowing it to seep into the crevices.

  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.

  5. Remove from the oven and brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter.

What You Do — Make the Glaze (optional)

  1. In a small bowl, whisk cream cheese until creamy.

  2. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract and whisk until smooth. Use milk or cream as needed to get desired texture.

  3. Spread the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls.

  4. Serve the cinnamon rolls warm and enjoy the rich, creamy goodness!
