Spiderweb Pancakes

Get spooky and delicious with these fun Spiderweb Pancakes, perfect for Halloween or any time you want to add a little creativity to your breakfast. These colorful pancakes are decorated with a fudge spiderweb design that’s sure to impress kids and adults alike. Chefleen Says: Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla or cinnamon, or both, to the pancake batter for even more flavor!

What You Need — For the Pancakes

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk

  • 1 egg

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

  • 10 drops red food coloring

  • 10 drops yellow food coloring

What You Need — For the Fudge

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup

  • 1 teaspoon McCormick pure vanilla extract

  • 2 ounces milk chocolate, chopped

  • 1 – 4 tablespoons confectioners' sugar

What You Do — For the Pancakes

  1. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.

  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, and egg. Stir to combine.

  3. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Add in the red and yellow food coloring to achieve the desired color.

  4. Cook the pancakes over medium heat in a non-stick skillet with either butter or non-stick spray until bubbles appear, about 2 minutes, then flip over for another minute.

  5. Continue until all the batter is used, wiping out any burnt bits before each batch.

What You Do — For the Fudge

  1. Combine the butter, corn syrup, and milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until the butter is melted.

  2. Stir in the chocolate chips until smooth and add in the vanilla extract.

  3. Add in the powdered sugar until the desired thickness is achieved.

What You Do — To Decorate

  1. Place the fudge in a piping bag or Ziploc bag with a small corner cut off.

  2. Carefully draw 3 – 4 circles around each pancake.

  3. Use a toothpick or knife to drag the chocolate in straight lines from the center to the edge to create a web pattern.
